Roots & Wings: Call to Artists
Help us celebrate Vermont Creative Works’ first anniversary by taking part in Roots & Wings, a community art exhibit and auction created by local artists.
When Vermont Creative Works opened its doors one year ago, we celebrated our Grand Opening with a special exhibit featuring original artwork created on 12-inch wooden circles. This October, we’re bringing the project back for our First Anniversary Celebration and Open Studio Weekend on October 3.
This year’s theme is Roots & Wings — an exploration of what grounds us and what helps us grow.
Your interpretation can be literal, symbolic, personal, playful, abstract, or anything in between. Roots might represent home, family, nature, community, history, or belonging. Wings might represent growth, freedom, dreams, change, creativity, or possibility. We want to see what the theme means to you.
How to Participate
Register here to reserve your free 12-inch wooden circle. Quantities are limited, so each participating artist must complete this $0 registration to ensure a circle is reserved for them.
Circles should be picked up from Vermont Creative Works by September 1 during our open hours. You’ll have the month of September to create your piece, with completed artwork due back to VCW by September 30.
Finished pieces will be displayed together in our hallway gallery during our First Anniversary Celebration and Open Studio Weekend on October 3 and offered as part of our Roots & Wings art auction.
Artists may choose to either receive 50% of the final sale price if their piece sells or donate 100% of the proceeds to Vermont Creative Works.
All participating artists will receive a downloadable Artist Information & Participation Agreement with complete instructions and exhibit details after registering.
All styles and mediums are welcome. Paint, draw, collage, wood-burn, sculpt, embellish, or surprise us.
A year ago, Vermont Creative Works was just beginning to put down roots. Now, as we celebrate everything this creative community has grown into, we’re looking forward to seeing where your imagination takes flight.
